I learned from my own father that a bountiful harvest in late-August takes commitment well before May. Success takes year-round leadership, hard work, and service to a cause greater than oneself.
My story is the story of Yuba City. It is the story of America at its best. My father came to Yuba City in 1976. He worked long hours in the fields, often earning as little as $1.35 an hour while laboring 16- to 18-hour days. After saving and sacrificing for years and armed with loans from family and friends who saw in my father a solid investment, his hard work finally paid off when he purchased our family farm. Being awarded “investor status” meant everything to my father. Most importantly, it meant his family could finally be reunited at last.
In 1983, Yuba City became home when at the age of eleven I traveled here with my mother and sister to start our life in America, this beautiful land of prosperity, equality, and promise. I will always recognize and deeply appreciate that my father worked tirelessly and sacrificed a great deal so that I could have a better life beneath our beautiful American flag.
"I pledge that a vote for Sukh Sidhu is a vote for a better tomorrow. A vote for Sukh is a vote for a better community. A vote for me is a vote for a better Yuba City."
Sukh Sidhu For City Council
I also learned from my family the importance of service, and service to community. As President of the Yuba-Sutter-Colusa United Way, I have dedicated myself to public service and to the protection of the most vulnerable amongst us. I have seen first-hand what strides we can make and what good we can do by working together as a community toward a common cause.
I am also a successful businessman. As a Senior Executive in the Medical Technology industry, I know better than any other candidate the importance of bottom-line, real-world profitability. I am responsible for multi-millions of dollars of revenue, and I lead my regional and national teams by example. I stand behind my product because I understand that in the real world it takes an entire career to build a reputation and, without good stewardship, relationships can be ruined in seconds. I am ethical, honest, and I always do what I say.
I think of how proud my father and grandfather would have been to see how far we have come. Yuba City, we have come so very far together; but, we have so very far yet to go. We are a destination: but we can improve our community even more by working together. We deserve a thriving economy, clean roads and water, healthy relationships with our city partners, and public schools that teach and protect our children. Yuba City, if you’re ready to improve our public discourse, if you feel that we need to treat each other with respect no matter what our race or religion, and if you are ready for common sense decision making, then please vote for me, Sukh Sidhu. I pledge that a vote for Sukh Sidhu is a vote for a better tomorrow. A vote for Sukh is a vote for a better community. A vote for me is a vote for a better Yuba City.
